If there is something that I am very good at, it is ending up in awkward situations.
This particular awkward incident involves the speedy Usain Bolt.
About five months ago, formal season was in full swing. Lucky for me, I didn't have to worry about finding a date because I had this dashing fellow to bring along (posing for pictures isn't always our forte).
However, I had a friend who was on the look-out for a formal date. She had enlisted me to help with her search.
I decided that the easiest thing to do was find a source for lots of potential date options. The logical option here was to text the boyfriend. I enquired about any potential, single male friends he had that would be interested in attending my friend's sorority formal.
Here's where things start getting awkward (and where Usain Bolt comes in).
Jon started sending me a slew of pictures of potential boys. He figured I could just forward on these pictures to my friend since neither of us quite knew what she was looking for. One of these pictures was the one shown below.
I wanted to make sure that I could give my friend the best information possible. Therefore, I text Jon back with a point of clarification. Which of these two guys was Jon trying to set my friend up with?
I could attempt to explain the awkwardness that ensued post-inquiry.
Or, we can let some old screenshots do the trick. Enjoy.
Needless to say I was mildly mortified when I did a quick Google search for "Usain Bolt" and the famous Olympian's face aka "the other kid" was plastered all over my computer screen.
Due to this unfortunate turn of events, it was a hard "no" from Usain. Jon wasn't quite able to reach Usain's assistant (at least that's the story I'm going with).
In other news, I did recognize Usain Bolt at the Olympics this time around. Didn't call him the "other kid" this time either.
