This #NastyWoman Needs A Stiff Drink

Today, I am not proud to American. America has failed me.

It is 6 AM, the day post-elections. I just got off the phone with my best friend, who was absolutely hysterical. Why? Because she is an immigrant to this country and does not yet possess American citizenship. Now with Trump being elected, who knows if she ever will?

It's one thing to console your best friend when a stupid boy breaks her heart, because you know that she is going to be okay. How do you console your best friend when America breaks her heart?

When you are entirely unsure if she is going to be okay?

When I'm entirely unsure that I myself will be okay?

It does not matter if our fears are "unfounded." What matters is the simple fact that Trump has the ability to create so much fear. I'm not going to name any names, but I can think of a few people who come to mind. Ones that America loves calling choice words.

What matters is the simple fact that Trump has the ability to create so much fear.

So now? We live in fear.

I fear for my parents, who are immigrants living in the middle of a southern red state.

I fear for my beautifully diverse friends, who are not all white and not all Christian.

I fear for my future, and the glass ceiling that seems to have come painfully close.

I fear for America, who is in danger of becoming like the small-minded, white town I so actively chose to move far, far away from.

So now? We live in fear.

I respect the right to vote. I can respect a leader whose views may differ from mine. But I am finding it painfully difficult to respect a leader that will not love more than half the people he is meant to lead.

At the end of the day, whether or not your President can deliver on the promises he made is one thing. But whether or not the President can deliver humanity and love is another.

I am going to miss Barack, the love he provided this country, and the woman who walked next to him (if not ahead of him, let's be real Michelle is a boss bitch hollaaa).

Cheers to a most beautiful couple whose dignity and grace will be ever missed.

Here's a montage of our boy Barack while I crack open a Corona. This #NastyWoman needs a drink. I don't care if it's 6 AM.
